Hip-hop has always been known for it’s bold lyrics and controversial subject matter – violent, humorous, sexual and gouty. Every so often an artist strikes out and releases a track that is simply obnoxious – unintelligible and tacky in its own right. Below is a list of songs that, for better or worse, broke outside the box and created waves that we wish to forget.

DJ I.N.C & The Soul People formed a ’strategic alliance’ @ the end of 2008 to go into the studio and record a soulful, nujazz, acid jazz fusion cd project. The result was the 2009 cd release…”Tha Afterset Sessions Volume 2″. The project was titled volume 2 because it was a similar recording session to DJ I.N.C 1999 release “Tha Afterset Sessions”. Both cds were titled sessions because most of the music that was used in the final cuts were the original recording sessions done in one or two takes. The vibe was organic and the ’sessions’ titles are to pay homage to the musicians and artist that worked on these projects w/ no rehearsals.
The lead single…”Steppers Swagger” is a tribute to Chicago’s steppers community. Steppers appreciate ‘old school’ jazzy, soulful 4 on the floor music but they also like to stay current. “Steppers Swagger” gives them traditional sexy music w/ a today sound. Marqueal Jordan plays his saxophone like he is whispering in the ear of a beautiful young lady that he is speaking to in the club.
DJ’s this is the cut to open up the club, (if you are the club opener), or this is the cut to wind down the evening after you have announced ‘last call’ and there is only 15minutes left before the club closes.
The entire cd is a great listen. It is full of sexy, jazzy instrumentation for music lovers of all kind.
